Acronis True Image Success Story — Greenville College

Overview

Greenville College is a four-year accredited Christian liberal arts school with more than 1300 traditional undergraduate, graduate, and adult degree completion students. Founded in 1892 and affiliated with the Free Methodist Church, the college is located in Greenville, Illinois, 45 miles east of St.Louis.

Key Challenges

Greenville College was looking to update and streamline its existing process for cloning systems. The college was using Norton Ghost but had issues with using this product with its newest computers because the network drivers were too bulky to load in DOS mode, which was the only mode Ghost used. Greenville really wanted Ghost to use Linux for newer Ethernet card support to avoid the driver issues. It also desired an imaging solution that kept the boot images small. When the college learned that Acronis True Image used Linux technology for rescue media, it was a pleasant and welcome surprise.

Product Evaluation

The college considered upgrading to an updated version of Norton Ghost but discovered this product was still using DOS for its boot technology and thus eliminated this option and turned to other potential solutions. Greenville College learned of Acronis from PC Magazine and was very impressed by the screen shots of the product and contacted Acronis for a demo. After the demo, Greenville decided to move to Acronis True Image. The product met the requirement of supporting Linux boot technology. In addition, the easy-to-use interface was a huge benefit.

Complete Success

Greenville College has successfully implemented Acronis True Image. The college has 400 licenses available to image systems on campus with no need to worry about supporting current network Ethernet cards on new systems. The software was implemented easily with no training. IT staff installed the software and figured it out in minutes, without even referencing the user guides that were made available.

Acronis True Image exceeded our expectations for an imaging solution — it supports Linux technology for bootable media ensuring that the Ethernet cards in our new systems are supported, minimizes the size of bootable image and is easy-to-use.We now have an imaging solution in place that can clone a standard system in minutes.
